Let me be the first to welcome everyone to JustCourt, the brand new official sports blog of the Justice, Brandeis University’s independent student newspaper. JustCourt is your official interactive stop for news and analysis on your Brandeis sports teams, so we hope you all read, comment, and provide feedback on the content here.
You’re probably asking yourself, “What types of things can I expect to see here?” The answer isn’t quite as clearcut as you’d think, because JustCourt is very much a fluid operation, but let me take a stab at answering the question anyway.
The Justice is a weekly publication, which is both a blessing and a curse, in a lot of ways. It’s a blessing because I doubt any Brandeis student could handle working for a daily publication (I know I couldn’t), but it’s also a curse because it means so many stories that occur during the week become less newsworthy once our publication date rolls around Tuesday. This is especially true in sports, where we often report on games and stories that occur as early as the same Tuesday of publication. The primary goal of JustCourt is to bring those stories to light in as best a way as humanely possible.
Additionally, even though we only publish once a week, our varsity sports teams are doing something every day that could matter for their seasons. Many of those efforts go unreported, so it’s our hope that you get a glimpse into the everyday life of a Brandeis varsity team, and by extension its players, through this blog.
The authors of these blog posts are none other than the very Justice reporters that devote much of their spare time to covering Brandeis sports. Our hope is that you will soak in their insights and respond directly to what you read in the comments section. At this point, most posts will discuss the soccer and basketball teams, but that doesn’t mean every other sport will go unreported here.
